Come and play Online

You're not playing online?

If you play Hearts, Spades, Euchre or Backgammon, you probably know that you can play online with other folks, or with people on our multiplayer mode but might not have really delved into it yet.

If you haven't tried playing online, I'd really encourage you to check it out. Playing with computer players can be fun, but there is a whole new element to the game play when you play online with other people that deepens the experience.

Let's get to it

Playing online is pretty simple, what you do is choose the "multiplayer" or "play online" depending on your game. You'll need to make a username, this is your online identity, it doesn't need to be your real name.

After that you'll be looking at the list of rooms. Each room can house a bunch of players; how many players is indicated to the right of the room name. If you want to hop into the thick of it, I'd suggest Smoot's cavern, it's always full of folks ready to play. If you want to get the feel of things online without other people, just slip into one of the empty rooms.

Once there, you'll see a list of other players, a chat area, and a list of games playing as well as games with seats ready to hop into. To chat, just click into that area right under the chat log window. Say something profound, for example" Hey there, I'm new to playing online and wanted to say hello." Now you are mingling with the online community!

See that's not so hard.

It's about community

There's always someone around willing to offer a helping hand, from the other players to official Guides(who show up as a blue name in the list). But it takes a village right? So all types of folks are ready to show you around the games and the lobby. If you ever do come across a player you just as soon not have, feel free to right click on their name, and choose "ignore" to hide their chat from your view.

Playing a game is as easy as just taking a seat in one of the available games by clicking the seats button in the game list.

Well I think that's a pretty good primer to playing Hardwood games online. Just remember to be courteous and have a blast with all your new friends from around the globe!
